Larry's Running Blog

A rambling commentary on my running and a log of what I've been up to with my training. It, hopefully, will show my progress and improvements towards my running goals and enjoyment of keeping myself fit and healthy.

I have been for a couple of gentle runs this week so am smiling again. On Wednesday I did 2.5 miles and today I did 3.75 miles. All slowly and taking care not to overdo it on the toe/foot which is still a little sore to run but getting better each time. I think stretching the tendon out is helping is recover.
It is still very hot, over 30 degrees each day and not cooled by the breeze, so its difficult to find the right time for the runs, but early morning/evening will have to be the time because I couldn't possible run in the day with the heat we have.
I have been cycling several times a week and have got so enthusiastic about it that I have put a deposit on a road bike to help with the x training. I am hoping this will cut the incidence of injuries (although this injury was not caused by running but by clumsiness!)
You never know, a tri may be on the horizon. Fun? I am not sure yet but its definately a little seed germinating and you know how they grow.
So, with that in mind and to cool myslef down I went to the River Crouch - 5 minutes from my house - for a swim yesterday. You have to be careful there as its got strong currents and joins into the North Sea but it was great and reminded me how much better it is swimming in the sea rather than the pool. Nice for hot days like these.
I looked at the Beachy Head schedule and its up to a 16 mile run next Sunday but I will not be ready for that so I will have to increase mine more slowly. Not to worry, I will get there this year.
