Thanks for the encouragement guys.
I have been feeling pretty fed up about not training lately. I can't even cycle or swim as I have this groin strain that really needs to be rested otherwise that will be the next thing that stops me running so its been walking only for me lately and nothing more than 4 miles each day.
The physio told me I could try a couple of very easy short runs this week so I did a 1 miler on Wednesday which didn't go well as I had shooting pain in the calf for the first half a mile though it was ok for the second half mile after stretching and rubbing it. I did a 2 miler yesterday which was much better but it felt a bit tight. Again stretching it eased it off and it was ok for the rest of the day.
I have put on weight lately which I am not happy about so I will be very pleased when I can get back to running and I know everything will seem better then.
I don't know what to do at Halstead now. There is an option to stop running after 15 miles so I may do that if the calf doesn't feel too good on the day, but then is it even worth doing that?
The next couple of weeks will tell I suppose.

Good to see you blogging again Larry.
Leave your decision to last minute for Halstead and if you don't feel right don't do it. It could screw up your whole season. I know when your'e not running it feels like forever but do try & put up with it a little bit longer.

OSN is right, Larry.
Please don't get frustrated about Halstead. You can decide what to do a bit closer to the time. HOWEVER - perhaps it would be easier for you to come to a decision if you ask yourself these questions:-
a) Why do I want to do Halstead?
b) Will taking part damage me further?
c) To what extent is my taking part influenced by what other people think?
d) How will I feel if I have to stop part-way through the event?
Only you can know the true answers to these questions. Whatever decision you come to, it will be the right decision for you.
In the meantime ...... try to stay as happy as Larry normally is!
